Kelsey is a native Detroiter, currently living in the east side neighborhood, Morningside. After graduating from Wayne State University with an Urban Studies degree in 2011, Kelsey took on a role as the Community Engagement and Government Affairs manager for The Children's Center of Wayne County. From 2016-17, Kelsey was a Challenge Detroit Fellow, overseeing the planning and execution of Slow Roll Detroit's 2017 season (made up of 25 weekly group bike rides) and introducing a robust volunteer recruitment and training program.

 

A passionate urbanist, humanitarian, and creative thinker, Kelsey created Roots to Rise Detroit to engage individuals, businesses, and organizations in social change for communities through engagement, marketing, and project management. 

 

Kelsey's broad scope of work has allowed her to work with The Majestic Theatre Complex, Strategic Community Partners, Citizen Detroit, PopChips, Bloomscape, Downtown Boxing Gym, MoGo Detroit, Fort Street Open Door, Corktown Business Association, and more.
